🌍 AU (Alternate Universe)
Characters placed in a totally different setting than the original story. Think: coffee shop AU, royalty AU, modern AU, soulmates AU… It’s like fanfiction inside fanfiction. And we love it.
💔 Angst
Emotional pain, heartbreak, misunderstandings, longing. These fics hurt — but in a strangely satisfying way. May or may not end happily… proceed with tissues.
🔀 Canon Divergence
What if one detail in canon had gone differently? Same universe, same characters — but one choice, one twist, changes everything. Great for exploring new possibilities without going full AU.
🎭 Fake Dating
They pretend to be a couple for reasons (saving face, helping a friend, etc.) But fake feelings turn real — oops. Cue the confusion, butterflies, and romantic tension.
🧡 Friends to Lovers
Two close friends slowly (or suddenly) realize they’re in love. Sweet, emotional, full of small moments and big realizations. Wholesome and satisfying.
⚔️ Enemies to Lovers
They hate each other… until they don’t. Snarky banter, tension, denial, and finally: boom, feelings. A fan-favorite for a reason.
💖 HEA (Happily Ever After)
Short for Happily Ever After. These fics end well — love is declared, the angst is resolved, and everyone is okay. Perfect when you want to smile at the last line and feel all warm inside. (Bonus variant: HFN – Happy For Now, for slightly more realistic endings.)
🫂 Hurt/Comfort
One character is hurting (physically or emotionally), and the other offers comfort. Lots of vulnerability, tenderness, and healing scenes. For readers who want to cry a little… then feel better.
😩 Pining
One character (or both) is hopelessly in love — but can’t say it. Expect longing looks, internal monologues, and emotional repression. Painfully good.
🔥 Slow Burn
When the romance takes time to build. Expect long glances, unresolved tension, and emotional build-up before anything actually happens. Perfect for lovers of deep, delicious anticipation.
